I am back at the Ranch after driving the truck up from San Diego. I took the back road – through Riverside and San Bernardino and into the mountains. Highway 395 cuts across the Mojave Desert, and I took in the low scrub and Joshua trees. Then I climbed up the Tehachapi Pass with its spectacular rolling hills. I now have a little more sense of California geography.
A little rain last night but the first measure of snowfall at Phillips Station was dry. We need more rain soon.
