Mike and I were moving furniture out of the garage and onto his trailer. We dismantled the kid’s bedroom furniture for transport down to Mark and Cali. Mike heard the sound of water running and looked for the source. The source was a rattlesnake by the side of the house. MJ and Gerry affectionately named the ranch Rattlesnake Gulch, but this was my first encounter with a live rattler. Mike held the snake down with an extended pole while I took off the head with loppers. Like many medieval executioners, several blows were required to sever the head. Mike took pictures – this is his second trophy.
For a breather, I started trimming back the cotoneaster on the mezzanine level.
