It rained overnight, and this morning the ground was soft and wet as I went to trim rockrose for Spots. The shrub rockroses in the front slope garden have lots of new growth, even when I avoid buds. More pink and white geraniums are making their appearance. The pink, royal blue and scarlet salvias are in full bloom – they seem to respond well to aggressive pruning.
I was recording Easter music at the church this morning. Myself singing from the piano and three other singers spaced six feet apart. I stopped at the circle garden to clear weeds as I came in. The cistus was a surprise and delight. It did not bloom last year and has its first full white bloom with a yellow center. Hopefully with dead heading it can greet me with white blooms throughout the summer.
