The hummingbird in the magenta salvia outside the breakfast nook window is becoming a daily visitor.

Temperatures have moderated, and I mowed the back lawn in the middle of the day. Probably no higher than 82 degrees. I ran water overnight into the fire prevention pond, and it still has a fair amount of water.

A flock of turkey vultures circled the back yard; I have no idea what attracted them. A nesting pair settled high in Jerry’s Tree and looked ready to close on a new house.

I am watching the sunset as I write. A significant smoke layer still hangs over the ridge and the valley.
